Bharathiraja blasts actor Vijay for political ambitions

BharathiRaja opens his mind about the entry of actor Vijay to politics. “Those who want to come to politics should come with a lot of social responsibilities. Let them come with the intention of doing something to the society. Let them come with courage to throw away the existing system. We will support it. Without doing anything like that, they want to cash the popularity gained by them in cinema. I will not at all support such an effort. Only the directors have injected the dialogues spoken, appearance and growth within an actor. None should think of coming to politics after seeing MGR. He came to politics after rendering great service to people. They can be heroes in the films but not to the nation. Hard field work is there behind the leaders like Kalaignar, MGR and Madam. So, actors should not think of coming to politics by cheating the poor people.” By his strong criticism, Bharathiraja expresses his opposition to the entry of Vijay to politics.

Big Temple elephant to stay off rejuvenation camp

Sixty-two-year-old Vellaiyammal is advised against travel.
The HinduSixty-two-year-old Vellaiyammal is advised against travel

Vellaiyammal, elephant of the Big Temple, would not attend the 48-day rejuvenation camp for elephants to be conducted at Vanabadrakaliyamman temple near Mettupalayam. The camp begins on Monday but Vellaiyammal, which went for the rejuvenation camp for five years, would not attend the camp.
As the pachyderm is 62 years old, doctors advised against transporting the animal. Vellaiyammal came to the Big Temple when she was four years old, and film actor Sivaji Ganesan presented the animal to the temple.
It was a herculean task for the mahouts to make Vellaiyammal board the lorry for going to the camp in the first year.
In the subsequent years, it boarded the vehicle easily and went happily to the camp.
However, elephants of Aiyarappar temple at Thiruvaiyaru (Dharmambal), Agneeswarar temple at Thirupugazhur, and Rajagopalaswamy temple at Mannargudi (Sengamalam) would attend the camp.

TAMIL UNIVERSITY

After boarding the lorries at the respective temples, the animals would be brought to Tamil University on Sunday and would be taken to the camp . S.Ilango, Joint Commissioner of HR and CE, would see off the elephants at Tamil University at 7 a.m.
The camp is organised to help the animals to stay in natural habitat.
Balanced diet, including mineral, protein and vitamin tablets would be given to the animals.

Forward Bloc may get space for party office in Delhi

The All India Forward Bloc’s demand for a space to construct a party office in the National Capital is being considered by the government, but there is stoic silence on whether a memorial for its founder Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be considered.
The Union Urban Development Ministry is “actively considering” the allotment of a plot of land for the party that has just three Members in Parliament.
In an indication of the government trying to make it up to the party, rules are being tweaked to accommodate the Forward Bloc’s demand for office space. “As per the rules, a party to have a space allotted for official use has to have at least 11 MPs. The eligibility criteria as per the 2006 policy cannot be altered, but this is being treated as a special case. The Ministry is drafting a note that will be presented to the Cabinet for its approval. The final decision rests with the Cabinet,” said a source.
In recent times the Forward Bloc has supported the UPA Government’s decision to nominate Pranab Mukherjee and Hamid Ansari for President and Vice-President’s position respectively. It has, however, criticised the move to bring in foreign direct investment (FDI) in multi brand retail.
The party is unhappy that despite its founder Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s contribution to India’s struggle for Independence and the long standing demand for a memorial in the Capital to familiarise the younger generations with his legacy and pay tributes to him, subsequent governments at the Centre have overlooked the request.
“Since 1985 the All India Forward Bloc has been demanding a piece of land in the National Capital for the construction of a foundation in the memory of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Over the years, the demand has been pursued with diligence, but so far it has been met with assurances and even in-principle agreements, but neither the Congress-led UPA nor the BJP-led NDA actually fulfilled the promise,” said party general secretary Debabrata Biswas.
Pointing out that the party has fulfilled every condition, including making the necessary payments required to be made, Mr. Biswas said: “There are so many buildings in the Capital that have memorials and foundations of the Nehru family, of Babu Jagjivan Ram and others, but nothing has been done for Netaji. Not even a piece of land has been allotted in his name.”
The Forward Bloc leader said after the party supported the UPA-I, he took up the issue of land allotment with the UPA leaders, but was not given any assurances. “When Ghulam Nabi Azad was the Urban Development Minister, there was some positive note mentioned in the file noting and we were asked to deposit some money as proof that we have the funds to build a foundation. When the BJP was in power, Ram Jethmalani had accepted in-principle, but nothing was done.”

The ratio between internal resources and borrowings has been revised in 58:42 to fund the project," CCEA noted.

"Work on the Integrated Passenger Terminal Building was completed in August 2012 except Zone-I of the building, which forms the extreme and of the domestic portion of the integrated terminal. The zone-I is expected to be completed by December, 2012."

According to official sources, the number of passengers (embarking and disembarking) utilizing the terminal facilities over the project period is based upon the traffic projections.
