மதுரை: டில்லியில் பிரதமர் மன்மோகன் சிங் நடத்தும் கூட்டத்தில், மதுரை மேயர் ராஜன் செல்லப்பா பங்கேற்கிறார். இந்தியாவில் 63 நகரங்களில் ஜவகர்லால் நேரு தேசிய நகர்புற புனரமைப்புத்திட்டம் செயல்படுத்தப்பட்டது. தமிழகத்தில் சென்னை, கோவை, மதுரை மாநகராட்சிகள், இத்திட்டத்தில் இடம்பெற்றன. இத்திட்டம் மூலம் மதுரைக்கு, 2006 ஜூன் 20ல் 2,496.98 கோடி ரூபாய் வழங்க மத்திய நகர்புற மேம்பாட்டு அமைச்சகம் ஒப்புதல் அளித்தது. இத்திட்டத்தின் இரண்டாவது பாகத்தை தொடங்க, மத்திய அரசு முடிவு செய்துள்ளது. இதற்காக நாளை, டில்லியில் பிரதமர் தலைமையில் நடக்கும் கூட்டத்தில், 63 நகரங்களின் மக்கள் பிரதிகள் பங்கேற்கின்றனர். நிதி ஆதாரமின்றி தவிக்கும் மதுரை மாநகராட்சிக்கு, ஜவகர்லால் நேரு தேசிய நகர்புற புனரமைப்புத்திட்டத்தின் இரண்டாம் பாகம் கிடைத்தால், கிடப்பில் கிடக்கும் பலதிட்டங்கள் உயிர் பெறும்.

Mani Ratnam's 'Pookadai' - Latest tidbits

Kollywood grapevine is abuzz that ace director Mani Ratnam has finalized on the cast and crew for his next, titled 'Pookadai'. This film will see Karthik's son, Gautham along with Radha's second daughter Thulasi.

One of the reasons for this casting by Mani is because both Gautham and Thulasi have been kept away from the eyes of the media and he'll be able to weave fresh magic, and wow audience with these debutants in his film.

It is also said that Mani Ratnam held a test shoot to test the chemistry between his lead stars which turned out well. He has also asked his lead stars to not speak about this film; 'Pookadai' will go on floors shortly in the rural areas of Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile Mani's fans are already all eyes for everything about this project as Mani Ratnam, through this film, will be back to what he is best, romantic stories which will smitten one and all.

What did Mani tell Gautham?

Mani Ratnam's next movie, with Karthik's son is soon expected to go on floors. Now, Mani is busy performing test shoots on the film's hero Gautham. As it seems, Gautham has impressed Mani and the rest of the crew members during the test shoots.

A source that was present at the test shoots told us that Mani couldn't stop praising Gautham for his acting skills. And the crew members also congratulated Gautham for his performance stating that he has the potential to nail the tough role Mani has in store for him. That's one chip of the old block, we think.

Vivek launches Green Kalam

Tuesday was a memorable day for Vivek, for the top comedian of Tamil cinema launched a website in Chennai, urging the need for green cover in the country to protect the environment from the ill-effects of global warming.

The website was click-started by Vivek in the presence of Ponraj, an associate of former Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam. "We will soon launch a short film on planting of saplings," Vivek said,

"Green Kalam is an initiative to increase awareness about our dependence on trees for survival. It is Kalam sir's dream to make people to understand the importance of a tree which dedicates every part of its life to every living being," Vivek added.

He further said: "With the help of several NGOs and well-wishers we achieved beyond the target of sapling plantation. Now we go further by taking a step ahead by making it billion trees for billion people. Kalam is taking part in a function in this regard at Cuddalore in January."

அந்த 200 பேரையும் தேடிப்பிடித்து கொண்டு வந்து விட்ட பாலா, அவர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் முன்தலையில் மொட்டையடித்திருக்கிறார். முடி வளர்ந்தாலும் திரும்பத்திரும்ப இந்த மொட்டை அடிக்கப்படுமாம். அதனால் தனது படம் முடியுற வரைக்கும அவர்களை வேறு எந்த படத்திலும் நடிக்கக்கூடாது என்று கண்டிசன் போட்டிருக்கும் பாலா, அவர்களுக்கு 3 படங்களில் நடிக்கும் அளவுக்கு சம்பளமும் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார்.
