A candle light vigil on the Marina sands on Sunday, May 20, will mark the third anniversary of the Mullivaikkal massacre. The participants would urge the international community to treat the atrocities and killing of Tamils in Sri Lanka as a clear case of genocide.
At a press conference on Friday, the organisers demanded a referendum on the formation of Tamil Eelam by the UN involving all Lankan Tamils across the globe.
Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam president Kolathur Mani, May 17 Movement leader Thirumurugan Gandhi, poet Kasi Viswanthan and others urged the people to gather near the Kannagi statue at 5 pm on Sunday to pay homage to those killed in Lanka. LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan, CPI leaders D Raja and R Nallakannu, MDMK founder Vaiko, Naam Tamilar chief Seeman and Tamil Nationalist leader P Nedumaran will participate.
