After Sivaji Ganesan’s 1964 movie Karnan hit the screens this March and became a superhit, crossing 150 days at the box office, there was news that another Sivaji movie Thiruvilaiyadal, directed by the legendary AP Nagarajan in 1965, will also be digitised and released soon.
But, there seems to be a fight between two distribution houses over the rights of the Sivaji classic.
Recently, the Madras High Court, hearing a suit filed by Vijaya Pictures, ordered maintenance of status quo for
two weeks in respect of digitisation and release of Thiruvilaiyadal.
The matter will be again taken up for hearing on August 16. Vijaya Pictures says they hold all the rights.
