There was a buzz in K-town that SJ Surya's new directorial 'Isai' is a story about the clash of Ilaiyaraaja and AR Rahman. SJ Surya plays the role of young composer AR Rahman and he approached Prakash Raj for the role of Ilaiyaraaja but the actor didn't accept it as Prakash Raj share a great rapport with Ilaiyaraaja. Now sources say SJ Surya convinced Sathyaraj to play the character of Ilaiyaraaja in the film. Popular character artist Jayaprakash is said to be playing the character of Mani Ratnam .
It is known that it was Mani Ratnam who introduced AR Rahman and before AR Rahman ,Ilaiyaraaja has composed all the songs in Mani Ratnam's films. Initially SJ Surya asked AR Rahman to compose the music for the film but AR Rahman encouraged SJ Surya to compose the film and now we are understand the reason, aren't we?.
