Come 15 August, die-hard fans of thespian Sivaji Ganesan will get to rejoice as they would get to see the actor's evergreen hit Pasamalar, which is being re-released in a grand manner.
The movie which hit the screens in 1961 is still remembered for stellar performances by Sivaji Ganesan, Savithri and Gemini Ganesan. Pasamalar spoke about sibling love and won the National Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil then. Directed by Bhimsingh, the movie had music by Viswanathan and T K Ramamurthy for soul-stirring lyrics by Kannadasan. Dialogues of Aroordass was the movie's mainstay.

Perhaps Pasamalar is the first movie in Tamil to be converted to cinemascope in the country. It will open the doors for many more yesteryear classics made in black and white re-released in a new format,' he says.
For many of Sivaji Ganesan's admirers, Pasamalar is one film which is very close to their hearts and the emotional outburst of the actor towards the climax is remembered by them.
