All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) has condemned the alleged role of the Special Air Services of Britain in Operation Bluestar in the Golden Temple of Amritsar in 1984.
"The party strongly condemns the role of the Congress government in taking the British government's help in solving the internal problems of the country,"said national secretary and general secretary of the Punjab State Committee of All India Forward Bloc, VP Saini on Tuesday.
He said B Raman, then additional director of research and anaylsis wing (RAW), in his book 'The Kaoboys of R&AW: Down Memory Lanes', has claimed that two officers of the British Security Services (MI-5) had visited the Golden Temple as tourists and advised then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on the operations in the temple.
"The fact that the charges, based on the declassified documents, have been levelled by Tom Watson and Pat McFadden, members of British parliament belonging to Labour Party, have to be taken seriously and cannot be ignored,"saini said.
He said the alleged involvement of the British agencies had indicated that though the British government transferred the power to India in1947, it continued to conspire and disrupt the unity and peace of India, particularly of Punjab. The party demanded a time-bound thorough probe into the matter and a statement from the Prime Minister and foreign ministers of India on this issue.
