It was 50 years ago, on Pongal day that the film 'Parthal Pasi Theerum', starring Sivaji Ganesan in the lead role, was released. To commemorate that, the Nadigar Thilagam Film Appreciation Society organized a meeting in Chennai on Sunday.
In his address, Y Gee Mahendra, president of the society, said, "It is impossible to forget a great actor like Sivaji Ganesan. We have launched this society to make sure that Nadigar Thilagam and his work continues to remain relevant in this day."
The society formed in October, 2011, with Y Gee Mahendra as its president, plans to screen classic films of the legendary actor once in two months on a Sunday. The annual subscription is Rs 750 for two and Rs 500 for one person.
Others took part in Sunday's function include Sivaji's eldest son Ramkumar, veteran actress Sowcar Janaki and veteran script writer Aroor Das.
