The grand bronze statue of the late Sivaji Ganesan which was erected in 2006 has been in the news lately for other reasons. Seven years ago a petition was filed seeking the court’s intervention to relocate the statue as it was claimed to be affecting the vision of motorists coming from a certain direction.
The case has now come to life once again with the High Court requesting the city’s Traffic department to study if there was indeed any obstruction or discomfort to motorists turning right from Kamarajar Salai towards Radhakrishnan Salai.
The Tamil Nadu Director’s Union (TANTIS) has issued a statement today, addressed to the Police department, stating the laurels Sivaji has brought to the State and urged them not to relocate the statue from its present position.
