Thevar Jayanthi: Stalin, Jaya pay homage

KAMUTHI: The DMK will again come back to power under the leadership of M Karunanidhi for the sixth time, said Deputy Chief Minister M K Stalin after paying homage to Muthuramalinga Thevar at the memorial at Pasumpon on Saturday.
He said that this dream will become a reality as they had a strong coalition.
On naming the Madurai Airport after Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, he said the State government had taken up the issue with the Centre and would continue to fight for the cause.
On the measures taken to boost industrial growth in this backward region, he said the government was offering various concessions to the industrialists to start business ventures here and added that he was positive that industrialisation will happen soon.
Ministers I Periyasamy, Thangam Thennarasu, A Tamilarasi Ravikumar and Periakaruppan accompanied the Deputy CM during his visit.
AIADMK chief, who visited the memorial with her close aide Sasikala, told mediapersons that she did not want to discuss any political issue at the memorial.
Since Thevar was called as Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar which means pure gold, the temple authorities had asked her to plate the memorial with gold and she agreed. When asked about the security arrangements, she said it was satisfactory.
Also, violence erupted in certain parts of the city with 19 TNSTC buses being damaged during the Thevar Jeyanthi celebrations held here.
