Director Bala’s follow up to his critically acclaimed 'Paradesi' is ‘Tharai Thappattai’, which is based on the ancient dance form Karagattam with Ilayaraja as music director who has composed twelve songs for the film. Sasikumar and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar are the lead pair with Sathish Kaushik, Amudhavanan and singer Pragathi Guruprasad making her acting debut.
Filming had been stalled for more than a month after Sasikumar dislocated his elbow while shooting for an action scene and now the actor is recovering and should be ready to shoot in ten days time. Only fourteen days of work remain in which four days are reserved for the completion of the action scene and the rest of the ten days Bala has planned to go Andaman for a song and some crucial scenes.
