Star sons and their fresh plans – Friday special article by Naveen
In a never before manner, heirs of many popular actors are very much active in Tamil cinema now, and the list includes Vikram Prabhu (son of Prabhu), Gautham Karthik (Karthik), Atharva (Murali), Dulqueer Salman (Mammootty), Sibiraj (Sathyaraj), Kalidas (Jayaram) and Anbu (Mayilsamy) among others.
Interestingly, all these youngsters have ventured as actors (heroes) and most of them have already started making their presence felt in the industry. Here is more about them:
The grandson of thespian Sivaji Ganesan is now one of the bankable young heroes of Kollywood, thanks to back to back hits in ‘Kumki’, ‘Arima Nambi’ and ‘Sigaram Thodu’. At present, he is acting in ‘Idhu Enna Mayam’ directed by Vijay, besides other projects.
His strategy is to act in three films per year, as per an advice from Superstar Rajinikanth. However, he will do only one film at a time, to avoid any confusion and deviation of attention.
The ‘Kadal’ hero is busy with a string of projects, including ‘Vai Raja Vai’, ‘Sippai’ etc. Following the footsteps of his grandfather Muthuraman and father Karthik, Gautham is determined to carve a niche for himself in the industry.
His plans for the future is to do varied roles that would establish himself as a talented actor. He is also said to have decided to put an end to gossips that revolve around him.
Though ‘Baana Kathadi’ is his first film, Atharva’s turning point came with Bala’s ‘Naan Kadavul’. Now he is busy with ‘Kanithan’, ‘Eeti’, besides other films.
Atharva has vowed not to make wrong choices again in his career. He considers director Bala as his ‘godfather’ and may soon act in a film directed/produced by his mentor.
Dulqueer Salman has hit a jackpot, so to say, as his second film in Kollywood itself with none other than Mani Ratnam. Currently busy with ‘Okay Kanmani’, Dulqueer’s next in Tamil is said to be with a leading banner. An official annoucement is expected soon.
Sibiraj is senior in this list as he made his debut more than a decade before. But last year’s ‘Naaigal Jaagirathai’ cemented his position in industry and he is now said to be firming up his next project, in a cautious manner.
Son of Jayaram, Kalidas is all set to make his debut in Tamil, in a film titled ‘Oru Pakka Kadhai’. Interestingly, the film is being directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan of ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkathai Kaanom’ fame. Kalidasan says he would be part of films that would be liked by one and all.
Veteran comedian Mayilsamy’s son Anbu will make his debut with a film to be produced by Pattiyal Shekar, father of Vishnuvardhan and Kreshna. Directed by debutant Johnson, it is tipped to be a comedy entertainer. Anbu’s plan is to dedicate himself to the roles he is doing and to be choosy while picking projects.
