Sivaganga district collector S Malarvizhi has promulgated prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) from October 23 till October 31 in view of the Maruthu Pandiyar Guru Puja and Thevar Jayanthi.
Maruthu Pandiyar Guru Puja will be held on October 24 while Thevar Jayanthi will be held on October 30.
There will be a ban on gathering of more than 10 people and holding of meetings. Travelling in large groups on hired vehicles to attend both ceremonies has also been banned.
The ban order will be in force to prevent possible violence.
