The district administration has identified routes for volunteers coming in vehicles from other districts to pay homage to freedom fighter Muthuramalinga Thevar on the occasion of Thevar Jayanthi at Pasumpon village on October 30.
The district administration has identified various routes for vehicles coming from central, north and west zones and from the districts of Madurai, Theni, Dindigul, Tuticorin, Tirunelveli, Kanyakumari and Virudhunagar, while banning as many as 16 routes in the district for any vehicle movement. In an official release issued here on Monday, it has been stated that all vehicles, with valid passes, should enter and exit the district through the prescribed routes.
Collector K. Nanthakumar had identified 19 routes and issued guidelines for carrying ‘jothis’ and taking out milk pot and ‘mulaipari’ processions and erecting flex boards.
‘Jothi’ run and ‘mulaipari’ and ‘milk pot’ processions would be permitted for one km from Thevar memorial in Pasumpon village on October 29 after prior permission from the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Kamudhi, he said. The processions, with prior permission, would be allowed in Kamudhi Kottaimedu and Abiramam, he said.
Flex boards would be allowed only inside Pasumpon village from October 27 to 31 after obtaining permission from the Kamudhi police and paying the prescribed fees to the local bodies.
The flex boards should be removed on the morning of October 31. People could install the portrait of Muthuramalinga Thevar and pay floral tributes in their villages for a day on October 30 but playing loudspeakers was strictly banned, the Collector said.
