Damage to party flag pole triggers tension

Damage caused to a flag pole of Moovendar Munnetra Kazhagam party at Burma Colony in Navalpattu on the city’s outskirts triggered tension on Wednesday prompting deployment of police personnel.
Police sources said the flag pole was found damaged and the flag was found torn in the morning hours enraging the party functionaries.
The party members lodged a complaint with the Navalpattu police demanding action against the culprits.
Even while they were returning, a group of them is said to have entered into a locality of a community and damaged a car and a two-wheeler.
They allegedly assaulted a woman and another villager of the community triggering tension.
As news spread, the community members assembled in the area prompting the intervention of the police personnel to maintain order.
Superintendent of Police S. Rajeswari inspected the area where security had been provided as a security measure, the sources said.
