Karthik criticizes Amma’s rule; terms it as ‘arrogant’

Karthik visited the Marukalkurichi village near Nanguneri in Tirunelveli District to visit the familyof Vanumamalai, who was killed in an ‘encounter’ by police inspector Vijayakumar. He consoled the family members of the deceased, spent some time with them and gave away financial assistance to the tune of Rs.50,000.
Karthik then spoke to the gathering at the spot where the encounter took place. “A whole family has been destroyed due to the irresponsible act of an inspector. I had loads of respect and regards for Amma which has started diminishing of late. It’s time she should act against the sand quarry mafia. The compensation of Rs.3 lakhs is hardly enough for the family which has lost its head and bread-winner.
“We’d take the agitation to the logical end to ensure that the culprits are punished. I appeal to the Govt. to grant Rs.10 lakhs as compensation to the family of the deceased. The law and order is breaking up and the rulers are becoming arrogant in the State,” he concluded.
