Seeman attacks Maestro Ilaiyaraaja over Toronto concert

Seeman, director-actor and president of the Naam Thamizhar outfit, while speaking at Keeramangalam at a party meeting convened under the theme of ‘creating a new political history by the year 2016‘ (significance of the year?), has criticized Maestro Ilaiyaraaja.
Seeman, said “ Our own Ilaiyaraaja, who never used to go abroad to hold his musical concerts, has chosen this time of his career to visit many countries including Canada to hold his musical nights. And especially in November which is being observed as the month for us to recall, recollect and remember the sacrifices made by the many Tamil warriors”
“Ilaiyaraja never came forward to conduct music concerts or to drum up funds to offer help in the form of food, medicine or clothes when the Tamils were fighting hard for their livelihood. It pains in the heart to see him going to conduct concerts during this month”
Seeman’s offensive against the Maestro hasn’t gone down well in particular with his fans world over and in general in Kollywood.
Even many Lankan Tamils, whom Seeman claims to be supporting emotionally, have condemned his speech. In an open letter addressed to him, they have said “How can you say things at a man who has been churning out everlasting and immortal music in the form of his songs for more than the past three decades? Ilaiyaraaja is the property of the Tamil community around the world who shouldn’t be criticized in the name of offering support to Lankan Tamils’ case!, ”.
