Demand to roll back hiked rate of power

Patna, Apr 12 (PTI) Activists of various left, democratic and progressive parties today brought out a procession here to protest against alleged arbitrary hike of rate of electricity charges by Bihar State Electricity Board (BSEB) in the state. Hundreds of activists of SUCI (Communist), MCPI(U), Communist Centre of India, All India Forward Bloc brought out the procession and burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. They demanded immediate roll back of the the hiked rate of electricity for both domestic and commercial consumers. They also demanded scraping of Central Electricity Act 2003 and restructuring of state electricity board. The processions were brought out in response to a call for 'Patna bandh' by left, progressive and democratic organisations today against "anti-people" stand of the Nitish Kumar government. The bandh call however evoked little impact in the city.
