Bengali association demands Bharat Ratna for Bose

The Bengali Social and Welfare Association on Thursday expressed concern over government apathy towards freedom fighters.
Association president Sahdev Mukherji said the Indian government has forgotten the contribution of a great freedom fighter like Subhash Chandra Bose who played a leading role in the freedom struggle.
He demanded that the Indian government should confer the Bharat Ratna on Bose in the coming budget session of Parliament. He added that if a national holiday can be declared on the birth anniversary of architect of Indian Constitution, Bhimrao Ambedkar then the same yardstick should also be applied in the case of persons like Bose and Bhagat Singh.
