A Chola inscription

"A Chola inscription gives the name of a person as 'Ariyan Tannan Edirilapperumal alias Kulothunga Chola Kadarambarayan Akambadi Mara Mudalikalil Narran Periyan alias Viram Alakiya Pallavarayan'. In this inscription 'Arayan' is indicative of Kallar caste. 'Kadenamparan' likewise indicates Kallar caste. 'Akambadi Mara Mudali' indicates the Akambadi Maravar caste. 'Pallavarayan' also implies Kallar caste. The long name in the inscription gives us the clue that Viran Alakiya Pallavarayan was a Kallar, his mother was a Marava woman, his maternal grandfather was an Akambadiyar and his great grandfather was a Kallar."
