Ilaiyaraja's advice to Bala


It is well known that director Bala has got the pride of directing the film which will mark the 1000th film of legendary music composer Ilaiyaraja. The composition sessions for the music of the film titled Tharai Thappattai has already begun and it is also rumored that Raja sir has already composed the tunes for all the 12 songs in the film. Recently a musical night to celebrate Ilaiyaraja's close to four decade long journey of 1000 films was held in Madurai. The even organized by the maestro's son Karthick Raja was attended by many play-back singers, directors and lyricists who have worked with the legend. Speaking at the event director Bala who has worked with Ilaiyaraja in three films said he is privileged to work with the composer in his 1000th film. He also requested Raja sir that he should croon at leas one number in Tharai Thappattai. Raja sir gave a smile as his reply. He also recalled advising Bala to avoid doing scripts for heroes and if he did so he cannot survive as a director and also appreciated the National award winning filmmaker for religiously following his words till date.
