Kathiravan demands probe into violence on Thevar Jayanthi


All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) National Secretary P V Kathiravan, MLA, has urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa to institute a judicial enquiry into the violent incidents that took place during Thevar Jayanthi celebrations on October 30.
Addressing a press conference after holding discussions with V G Chitraarasu Thevar, Founder President of All India Mukkulathor Pasarai, Y Venkatesan and A G Palanimanickam, Secretaries of Tiruchirapalli district AIFB, and others, Mr Kathiravan urged the Chief Minister to arrest the real culprits behind the incident. Mr Kathiravan thanked the Chief Minister for sanctioning government jobs and Rs five lakh as compensation to the family members of the deceased.
Mr Kathiravan condemned the arrest of nine persons in connection with the procession taken out in the city on October 30, on Thevar Jayanthi celebrations and wanted release all of them immediately. To a question Mr Chitraarasu Thevar said the Government should create an awareness among the people of southern districts about the importance of the Thevar Jayanthi Celebrations and communal harmony.
Earlier, Mr Kathiravan and others called on the City Police Commissioner Shylesh Kumar Yadhav and urged him to release all the nine persons who were arrested here on October 30 for taking out a procession in connection with the Thevar Jayanthi celebrations. They also met all the nine arrested who were lodged in the central prison here.
