No politics for now: Actor Prabhu

ERODE: Citing the bitter experience of his father Sivaji Ganesan, Tamil actor Prabhu said that he is not interested in politics for now. However, he made it clear that if need be, he would join politics in future but only after consulting his fan clubs.

Talking to Express on the sidelines of a private function here on Sunday, he, however, welcomed the entry of cine artists into politics. “There are numerous personalities like M Karunanidhi, MGR, J Jayalalithaa who joined politics and became successful. Recently, Telugu actor Chiranjeevi also joined politics,” he said.

“It is also not wrong to use politics as a medium to serve people. At present, I am serving people through Sivaji-Prabhu trust,” he said.

About election result, he said, “People’s verdict is God’s verdict. Whoever comes to power should serve people sincerely.”

He said that big budget films were inevitable to keep up the present trend. “Everyone wants their film to be a box-office hit. But we don’t have that magical ability to produce successful films alone. We will have to change with the trends.”

“I am planning to produce a film under Sivaji Films banner, which will be my son Vikram’s maiden film as an actor,” he noted. On acting in other language films, he said that as the son of Sivaji, he was receiving an overwhelming response.
