Executive magistrates posted for police stations

Executive magistrates had been posted for every police station in Madurai district to assist the administration and police in maintaining law and order during the Thevar jayanthi celebration on October 30.

The Collector, U. Sagayam, who chaired a review meeting of officials of Revenue Department here on Tuesday, instructed the Village Administrative Officers to inform the respective Tahsildars of the list of persons who would participate in the jayanthi celebration. The Tahsildars should ensure that executive magistrates reached their respective police stations. The VAOs should alert the officials about persons who could cause hindrance to maintenance of law and order.

According to an official press release, the Collector also instructed the VAOs to report any situation that would create a law and order problem to the Tahsildar and the control room (0452 2532501) at the Collector's office. Village assistants had been asked to keep vigil near statues of community leaders on rotation.
